Embracing Aging Fair

On May 18th, Chaffee County will be celebrating aging by offering the entire county dynamic educational workshops, fun activities, and a wide range of vendors for active seniors, their families, and their friends. Two local non-profits that serve seniors, Ark Valley Helping Hands, dedicated to connecting neighbors to help seniors thrive, and Sage Generation, whose mission is to provide resources so that seniors can thrive in the living situation of their choice, are teaming up again to bring this special event to our county. In partnership with Chaffee County Public Health, Chaffee County Department of Human Services, Upper Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, and Partnerships for Community Action, the event planning committee hopes that community agencies, businesses, and members will consider sponsoring and contributing to Embracing Aging. “This is the perfect opportunity for everybody in our community to get involved to celebrate aging.

“… People can solve problems [at a NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group]. It isn't just a bunch of sad stories; people are coming up with solutions and stuff to do for the next week. One of our group attendees is taking her meds and getting herself to her counselor and is just about able to go back to her career in great part due to Connection.”

"NAMI Connection has enabled me to take a good look at my illness and see that I am not alone. The program has given me additional tools to not only accept my illness, but to help others along the way."
